IPC offers three key activities for IHS, Tribal, and Urban Indian health facilities to learn and implement quality improvement. Each program builds increasingly more advanced skills and greater capacity for incorporating quality improvement at Indian health facilities.
The Foundation Series: These training sessions are the ideal entry points for learning and testing quality improvement concepts. Each month, IPC offers a web-based seminar as part of our Sharing Tools and Ideas for Improving Patient Care series. Health care staff, Tribal leaders, and community members can participate in these seminars where participants try out the real-world tools and ideas that have been tested by teams at IPC sites.
IPC Collaboratives: The IPC Collaborative is where IPC sites begin their quality improvement work. The IPC 1, IPC 2, and IPC 3 Collaboratives have completed their work. The IPC 4 Collaborative began in May 2012 and will continue for 18 months. When you join the IPC Collaborative, you join a learning community where you will participate in: face-to-face meetings with other improvement teams; regular, web-based teleconferences; and an ongoing listserv dialogue (which is a forum for sharing questions, ideas, experiences, and information).
Quality and Innovation Learning Network: The Learning Network is a community of sites from the IPC 1 and IPC 2 Collaboratives. They have achieved the core elements of the patient-centered medical home and are working to expand quality improvement changes across their entire sites.
