Data.gov Paper Wins Award in International Semantic Web Challenge
At the International Semantic Web Conference in Shanghai, China, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's (RPI) "TWC LOGD: A Portal for Linking Open Government Data" took the second spot in the International Semantic Web Challenge Open Track for its portal that opens up Data.gov's data and shows the world how to use it.
RPI's team was comprised of Dominic DiFranzo, Li Ding, John S. Erickson, Xian Li, Tim Lebo, James Michaelis, Alvaro Graves, Gregory Todd Williams, Jin Guang Zheng, Johanna Flores, Zhenning Shangguan, Gino Gervasio, Deborah L. McGuinness and Jim Hendler, who developed the portal, which sponsor Elsevier called "a massive semantic effort in opening up and linking all the public US government data, and providing the ecosystem and education for re-use.
