Resources

OCR has various types of resources that can be useful to the general public, advocates, and providers of healthcare and social services.  To explore further, click on the links to the left or below.  These include:

The Case Resolution Manual for Civil Rights Investigations (CRM) provides OCR staff and managers with the procedures and strategies designed to promptly and effectively evaluate, investigate, and resolve complaints and compliance reviews, and to enforce violation findings where warranted.

Fact Sheets - documents that summarize various aspects of the laws OCR enforce.  These are particularly helpful to the general public and to advocates.

The For Providers section has information particularly relevant to state and local government and to other providers.  It also includes a section for Medicare Provider Applicants about their civil rights obligations.  Also included is a resource section for recipients of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and other Federal funds.

On the Laws and Regulations page, you can find brief descriptions of and links to the HHS regulations and laws OCR enforce, as well as specific guidance that OCR has issued.

Special Topics include information about how to achieve Effective Communication in Hospitals, the civil rights of persons with HIV/AIDS, prohibition of discrimination in adoption and foster care, and several other topics.

Training Materials are also available that may be used by an individual or by groups.
