In Your Community

From North to South, East to West, and even across oceans, the We Can!® movement is steadily growing through the U.S. and in 14 other countries. Word is out that We Can! offers flexible, science-based programs (developed by the National Institutes of Health, the nation’s medical research agency) that are easy to tailor so that they speak to many different communities and ethnicities.

The growth of We Can! is a testament to the program’s appeal and the great need for these kinds of resources around the country and world. Since 2005, the number of registered community sites has jumped from 14 to more than 1,600. We Can! is working closely with new and old sites to provide the types of programs and resources that bring entire communities together to help children maintain a healthy weight through better lifestyle choices.

And we want to work with you, and your community too. If you’re a parent or caregiver you can use the many tips and tools on this site—sample eating plans, physical activity tips, nutritious recipes, etc.—to get you and your family on the road to improved health.

Just as important, you can talk to your friends, co-workers, and others about the importance of eating better, being more physically active, and spending less time in front of the computer, TV, and other screens.

Or, you can go even further by:

  • Finding a We Can! community site near you and participating in their We Can! programs.
  • Convincing a local group (e.g., your employer, your child’s school, your church/temple/mosque, your city’s park and recreation department) to sign up to become a site that runs We Can! programs, or become a partner that contributes in some other way. For more information, visit the Partner With Us page.

Check out the rest of the site. Think about how you can become part of the We Can! movement.
