American Buffalo One Ounce Gold Proof Coins are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coins. Each coin contains one ounce of .9999 fine, 24-karat gold and is presented in an elegant hardwood box with a matte finish and a faux leather inset. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the Director of the United States Mint.

The designs are based on the original 1913 Type I Buffalo nickel, designed by James Earle Fraser. The obverse features a profile of a Native American. The reverse features a representation of an American Buffalo (also known as a bison).
