Clinical Psychologist - GS-180-11/13: Clinical Psychologists work closely with inmates in Federal prisons. They participate as members of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, administer a wide variety of psychological assessment techniques, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports. We have a continuous need for Clinical Psychologists around the country.

Qualifications: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from an accredited school directly related to full professional work in psychology is required (i.e., Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology). For GS-12 and above, in addition to meeting the qualification requirements at the GS-11, you must have one year of appropriate professional experience which is comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in Federal Service. Pertinent unpaid or volunteer work will be credited on the same basis as paid employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Candidates must demonstrate they have the following KSAs to successfully perform their job as a Clinical Psychologist: (1) knowledge of treatment methods and treatment interventions relevant to a correctional setting; (2) professional job-related experience, including conducting individual and group psychotherapy; (3) knowledge of psychological assessment and report writing; and (4) knowledge of program administration.

Age Requirement: At time of appointment, applicants must not have reached their 37th birthday, unless they have previously served in a Federal civilian law enforcement position covered by special Civil Service retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. In special situations, a waiver may be granted up to age 39 at locations where there is a shortage of applicants under 37.
