It’s been a month since AIDS 2012 and now it’s time for the 2012 United States Conference on AIDS 
. The annual conference planned by the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) takes place September 30 to October 4, 2012. The conference marks the 25th anniversary of its founding. The 2012 theme is “Ending the AIDS Epidemic.”
We are focusing on providing technical assistance (TA) on using new media in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We wanted to share opportunities to engage with us:
- Monday, October 1, 2:30-4:00PM: State of New Media and HIV/AIDS in the U.S.
- Tuesday, October 2, 2:30 to 4:00PM: NMAC/New Media Workbook Session
- Exhibit Hall: AIDS.gov/Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy Booth
If you cannot make it to the conference, you can follow AIDS.gov via the blog and Twitter . CDC NPIN , NMAC and others will also use social media at the conference.
How will you use social media to participate in USCA?
In addition to attending some of the AIDS.gov TA sessions, HPTN team members will post updates to http://www.facebook.com/HIVptn and https://twitter.com/HIVptn about the presentations that we’ll have at USCA, as well as about our other HIV prevention research studies. We’re also looking forward to sharing news about research updates from other conference participants and responding to questions that people may have about HPTN’s work. This should be a great opportunity to expand the number of organizations and individuals who are in our growing community engagement network, so we’re looking forward to using social media to join the dialogue at USCA.
