In an effort to address the persistent and widespread problem of hazardous drinking on college campuses, NIAAA assembled a Task Force on College Drinking made up of distinguished educators, alcohol researchers, and students. The materials below are part of the Task Force's effort to make research-based information on this issue available to all individuals with an interest in the health and well being of college students.

All of the publications on this Web site are in the public domain and may be reproduced without permission. You are encouraged to duplicate and distribute as many copies as you want. (There will be an additional shipping and handling charge for all orders outside the U.S.)

This kit contains a single copy of every publication released by the Task Force on College Drinking. The kit will support researchers, college presidents, parents, students and community leaders as they come together in addressing this problem. A Call To Action: Changing The Culture of Drinking At U.S. Colleges


The Report is the summary document of the Task Force on College Drinking. It reflects the concerns of college presidents, students, parents, and college communities nationwide about the consequences of high-risk student drinking. It describes a new understanding of dangerous drinking behavior by college students and it consequences for both drinkers and nondrinkers. Outlined in the report are a series of recommendations to be implemented by colleges, universities, researchers and NIAAA. This 51-page report uses quotes, text boxes, bullets, charts and pictures.

What Colleges Need to Know Now An Update on College Drinking Research

Panel Reports

The Task Force on College Drinking created two panels composed of college presidents, administrators, alcohol researchers, and students. Each panel produced a report that reviewed the scientific literature, identified gaps in knowledge, and recommended promising directions for future research.
 

High Risk Drinking in College: What We Know and What We Need To Learn is the report produced by the Panel on Contexts and Consequences. It examines the current situation regarding alcohol consumption among college students and defines parameters, magnitude, and characteristics of problem drinking in college. (62pp.)
