As we make amazing strides in the areas of research, technology and clinical care, the drastic increase in survivorship will continue.  Currently, there are over 12 million survivors in the United States.  Providing support and follow up care to cancer survivors is now a recognized and specialized phase of care in oncology.  AMC was at the forefront of this trend, creating the Cancer Information and Counseling Line in 1981.  With continued support this free, national service will provide people with cancer and their families the information and critical counseling they need.
