Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia: CBT-I

This evidence-based workshop is offered to military and civilian health care providers through the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP). Specific courses and registration information is on the DCoE training calendar.

This intensive two-day workshop provides training in the assessment and treatment of deployment-related sleep disturbance. It covers the rates and types of sleep problems identified in military populations, highlights current research findings on this topic, and reviews clinical strategies and interventions. The instructors teach skills for using stimulus control and sleep restriction to treat insomnia. The course focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia and imagery rehearsal therapy to address nightmares.

The learning objectives are:

1. To increase knowledge about the prevalence and kinds of sleep problems service members experience

2. To review clinical strategies and interventions to assist service members with sleep problems

3. To provide research to support specific sleep interventions

For more information on the content of this course, please visit the CDP website.
