2012 Training Season is HERE!!!

The 2012 schedule of classes has been posted.  New for 2012:  EEO & HR for Managers and Supervisors (class taught jointly with OPM), and Advanced Disability Program Management.

Preventing employment discrimination from occurring in the federal workplace is preferable to trying to deal with the consequences of discrimination. EEOC is committed to providing training and technical assistance, outreach and educational programs to assist employers, employees and stakeholder groups understand and prevent discrimination. We believe that discrimination can be averted if federal agencies and their employees know their legal rights and responsibilities. EEOC can help you meet the goal of making your federal agency a Model Agency.

No-Cost Federal Outreach

EEOC representatives are available, on a limited basis, to make presentations and participate in meetings with federal employees and employers, and their representative groups. For information on No-Cost Federal Outreach, please send an email to FederalTrainingandOutreach@eeoc.gov. You may also contact one of the EEOC Outreach Program Coordinators in an EEOC field office.

Fee-Based Federal Training

EEOC provides a variety of training programs geared specifically for the federal sector. We provide an extensive training curriculum, through the EEOC Training Institute, as well as customized training, to meet particular needs. Our EEOC Training Institute classes address issues important in the federal workplace, and are offered throughout the year in varying locations. Additionally, all of our standardized courses can be delivered on-site at your work place.Our schedule of courses for 2011 will include:

  • "What All Managers and Supervisors Must Know About the Civil Rights Laws"
  • "Basic Training for Disability Program Managers"
  • "New EEO Laws - How GINA and the ADA-AA Will Change Your Workplace"
  • Training for New Investigators
  • Training for New EEO Counselors
  • Refresher courses for counselors and investigators

We expect to release our 2012 course catalog and calendar in January. Please check the EEOC Training Institute web site then.

If our catalog of courses does not exactly meet your needs, we can custom design a course to meet your specific needs. For further information on this option, or for any questions generally, please send an email to FederalTrainingandOutreach@eeoc.gov. Please include in your email information on the topics you wish to have covered in your training, as well as your time frame, location for the training, and a point of contact. A member of the Federal Training & Outreach Division will be in touch with you after receipt.

EXCEL is the premier Federal training conference for EEO managers, supervisors, practitioners, HR professionals, attorneys and ADR specialists. Sponsored by EEOC, this conference brings you training in topics from ADR to MD-715; a hearing prep track for attorneys is offered; refresher training for counselors and investigators is offered; and much, much more!

The 2012 ELC - EEOC Executive Leadership Conference

The ELC is designed to meet the professional development needs of senior leaders in the EEO field. The ELC was developed by the EEOC to help ensure EEO leaders have the leadership skills necessary to meet the challenges of their profession. Training offered at the ELC will address leadership competencies, personal development, and other topics vital to the success of current and future executives.

This conference is designed for senior EEO officials from federal, state and local governments, EEO executives from the private sector, and those who seek to move into senior positions. HR executives who have significant responsibilities in managing and implementing an EEO program are also encouraged to attend. Conference registration is limited to the GS-14 and above population, and equivalents.

2012 Highlights -

The 2012 conference will be held in tranquil Cambridge, MD, May 15-17, 2012.

  • Plenary sessions with key government officials, including a welcome from EEOC Chair Jacqueline Berrien and a keynote by Former Secretary of Labor Alexis M. Herman;

  • EEOC Women's Forum - Thursday, May 17, 2012 - EEOC will release and discuss its long anticipated report on Women's issues in the federal workplace. The release of the report will be followed by a panel discussion of the implications for women as leaders in the federal sector.
