Confidentiality and Data Access Committee (CDAC)
CDAC Tutorials and Short Courses


CDAC members have developed a one-day short course on confidentiality and data access issues. The course has been sponsored by various organizations, including the Washington Statistical Society, NAACCR, and the Joint Statistical Meetings. As an example, the major topics usually covered in the one-day short course are:

  • Legal Issues Relating to the Data Confidentiality.
  • Informed Consent.
  • Introduction to Statistical Disclosure Limitation Techniques (SDL).
  • Applications of SDL Techniques for Microdata.
  • Applications of SDL Techniques for Tables.
  • Checklist on the Disclosure Potential of Proposed Data Releases.
  • Restricted Data Access Procedures, and
  • Discussion and Q&A.

The short course can be tailored to a particular subtopic or audience. For more information, contact one of the officers listed below:
