Assistant Director (AD) Sara M. Revell began her Bureau of Prisons career in 1986 as a Case Management intern at what was then FCI Lexington (KY). She went on to positions of increasing responsibility at FPC Yankton (SD), FCI Marianna (FL), the Southeast Regional Office in Atlanta (GA), and FPC Montgomery (AL). Ms. Revell served as Associate Warden at FCC Coleman (FL) and USP McCreary (KY) before being named Warden for FCI Greenville (IL) and then Warden at USP Florence (CO). In 2009 she was selected as Complex Warden for FCC Butner (NC), where she is responsible for the operations of five institutions within the complex, including approximately 1,500 staff, and 5,100 inmates. She was selected Assistant Director (AD) of the BOP’s Program Review Division on April 13, 2012, and assumed that position on August 12, 2012.

Ms. Revell completed her undergraduate studies at Luther College in Decorah, IA, and attended graduate school at the University of Kentucky. She received the Bureau’s Excellence in Prison Management Award in 2007, for her correctional leadership and efforts in institution operations. AD Revell has given numerous presentations at BOP training conferences, as well as to civic organizations, and she has served as an instructor in the Bureau’s Principles of Leadership Program. She joined the ranks of the Senior Executive Service in December 2006.
