The Correctional Programs Division (CPD), overseen
by Blake R. Davis,
develops activities and programs designed to appropriately classify inmates, eliminate inmate idleness, and develop the skills necessary to
facilitate the successful reintegration of inmates into their communities upon release.
Programs include psychology and religious services, drug abuse treatment, programs for special needs offenders and females, and case management.
The CPD coordinates the agency's Victim and Witness Notification Program and ensures the collection of court-ordered obligations through the Inmate
Financial Responsibility Program.
CPD also provides national policy direction and daily operational oversight of institution correctional services; intelligence gathering; the management
of inmates placed in the Federal Witness Security Program; inmate transportation; receiving and discharge, inmate sentence computations, and the processing
of inmate mail; emergency preparedness; inmate discipline; and the coordination of treaty transfer inmates with other countries.
The Division also has responsibilities for a variety of functions in the areas of contract residential reentry centers, residential reentry management
(previously, community corrections) field offices, federally-sentenced juveniles, and community-based drug treatment, as well as liaison activities with
the U.S. Marshals Service and Office of Probation and Pretrial Services, as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement. CPD staff are responsible for
direct oversight of field staff who monitor contract compliance at secure privatized prisons and coordinate the Bureau's privatization management efforts.
