More Than $21 Million Awarded to School Districts to Expand Counseling Programs

The U.S. Department of Education today announced the award of more than $21.2 million to 60 recipients in 24 states across the country to establish or expand counseling programs. Grantees will use funds to support counseling programs in target elementary or secondary schools.

U.S. Department of Education Announces Grants Totaling Nearly $4 Million to Charter School Developers

The U.S. Department of Education announced today 20 grants totaling nearly $4 million to directly fund charter developers for the planning, program design and implementation of new charter schools, and the sharing of practices and dissemination of information by successful charter schools. Today's grants will serve 18 new, or recently opened charter schools over the next three years.

Today, the U.S. Department of Education announced the award of $12.3 million to strengthen and expand educational opportunities for Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students. These two-year grants are being awarded to 11 campuses in Hawaii and Alaska to improve their academic quality, instruction and facilities.

U.S. Department of Education Awards More Than $9.9 Million in Grants to Three States to Improve Their Academic Assessments

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded more than $9.9 million in Enhanced Assessment Grants (EAGs) to three state education agencies—Kansas, Maryland and Oregon—to improve their state academic assessments. The primary measure of school success under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is proficiency on state assessments.
