More About Current Year Treemap

What is shown here?

The data displayed on this page includes all of the IT investments for the current fiscal year. The entire IT portfolio is divided into different categories. The size of each category is determined by the total number of dollars represented by the budgets of every investment included in that category. The treemap includes both major and non-major investments.

What is a treemap?

According to the University of Maryland, where Ben Shneiderman designed the first treemap, a "Treemap is a space-constrained visualization of hierarchical structures. It is very effective in showing attributes of leaf nodes using size and color coding. Treemap enables users to compare nodes and sub-trees even at varying depth in the tree, and help them spot patterns and exceptions."
