Healthy Bones

This decision aid is for you only if you are a woman who has gone through menopause (when you stop having your periods) and who may have osteoporosis. What you learn here will help you think about what is important to you when deciding with your doctor how to keep your bones healthy.

What is osteoporosis? (click here)

Osteoporosis is a condition where your bones become thin or less solid. When bones are less solid, they are weaker and can break more easily.

The information in this decision aid is presented in five sections. Each new section builds on the last, so you must view the pages in order.

  • To go to the next page, click the "Next" button located in the menu bar above or at the bottom right corner of the page.
  • At the top of each page are tabs that link to each of the sections of this decision aid. These tabs highlight the sections you have viewed and show you how much information is left to see.
  • You can always click the "Previous" button or click on a section tab to review pages in a section you have already seen.
