I would like to introduce the premier of the FMIA 100 Year Commemorative Video, which was developed and
produced by FSIS' Center for Learning and the Intra-agency 100 Years Committee.
It details the historical beginnings of food inspection in America, the dramatic growth of federal meat and
poultry inspection that occurred in the middle of the 20th century, and the amazing improvements to
FSIS' food safety system made in the past 12 years that have dramatically changed forever how
FSIS approaches food safety and food defense.
