Testing Promotional Materials:
Know Your Status: Native HIV Testing Promotional Materials Now Available
The Indian Health Service National HIV/AIDS Program is pleased to announce the availability of media materials promoting routine HIV Testing for American Indians and Alaska Natives. The campaign was first developed in 2008 by a nationwide group of American Indian / Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian partners and community members, who sought to develop a Native-specific media campaign promoting routine HIV testing. Today, the IHS National HIV/AIDS Program is happy to support this community campaign, by printing and distributing these important materials for your use.
The community has emphasized that ‘It’s time for us to protect ourselves and our people. HIV testing is recommended for everyone as a part of routine healthcare.’

HIV exists everywhere, in every country and every state. The Indian Health Service HIV/AIDS Program is addressing this problem by supporting and expanding HIV prevention, testing, and treatment activities throughout Indian Country, with IHS, Tribal, and Urban (I/T/U) partners.
Funds for this project were provided by the IHS HIV/AIDS Program through a proposal to the Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI). Technical assistance was provided by Project Red Talon at the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, and graphical design work was provided by G&G Advertising.
These materials are also available for your use in conjunction with National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NNHAAD), which takes place each year on March 20th. Please also visit our National Native American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day page within this website for a message from our Director as well as other NNHAAD resources.
An Online Planning Toolkit for National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is also available to support local activities, which includes presentations, HIV fact sheets, and other media materials. We give thanks to our colleagues at Commitment to Action for 7th-Generation Awareness & Education: HIV/AIDS Prevention Project (CA7AE: HAPP) for this valuable resource.
