AGENDA, Foodborne Illness Source Attribution Public Meeting
January 31, 2012
Washington, DC

Purpose | Objectives | Agenda | Speakers

Public Meeting Purpose
The purpose of the public meeting is to discuss federal efforts to advance tri-Agency — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) — understanding of foodborne illness source attribution and to develop a path forward towards harmonized estimates of foodborne illness source attribution for priority foodborne pathogens. The public meeting will also introduce the Interagency Food Safety Analytics Collaboration (IFSAC), which was formed in response to stakeholder input and the desire to collaborate across federal food safety agencies to design and conduct analytic projects that provide a unified approach to foodborne illness source attribution, as well as the draft IFSAC strategic plan.

Public Meeting Objectives
The objectives of the public meeting are to
  1. update and engage stakeholders on federal agency illness attribution work,
  2. announce the development of IFSAC in response to previous public comments on the issue of foodborne illness source attribution,
  3. present the path forward as described in the draft IFSAC strategic plan and supporting projects, and
  4. solicit public feedback on IFSAC work and overall federal efforts to improve foodborne illness source attribution.
