Economists work with a diverse team of experts from different fields to provide direction and insight on economic matters that affect both the Commission and its jurisdictional companies. They track data that characterize energy markets and prepare reports on the findings with corresponding information used to support the analysis. Additionally, economists monitor and evaluate competition in emerging energy markets, you will analyze market access and rate proposals filed by major interstate energy companies. They work on electricity and gas issues impacting multi-billion dollar industries. They consult with the nation's leading experts in energy economics, market design, anti-trust and other issues, and use economic theory on real-world problems and situations.

FERC needs professionals and students with the following qualifications:

  • Economics degree

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Analytical ability
