Letter from Executive Director
FERC Career & Internship Opportunities

TO: Potential Employees
FROM: Executive Director, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
SUBJECT: Employment Opportunities

I want to congratulate you on considering future employment opportunities at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). While the past few years have been exciting, challenging and rewarding for those that work in the energy industry the future looks even more dynamic. FERC has been a leader in developing and implementing the policies that guide this country's energy markets.

FERC regulates and oversees energy industries in the economic, environmental, and safety interests of the American public.

FERC’s staff works to solve the challenges of managing today's energy markets and set policy direction for the energy industry at large. Recent legislation in the energy industry such as the Energy Policy Act of 2005 illustrate the need for a workforce poised to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing sector of our national economy.

FERC has approximately 1300 employees working for the Commission’s Washington, D.C. headquarters and Regional Offices in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Portland, and San Francisco.

Potential employees have several different methods of applying for employment.  Those interested in current vacancies, current Senior-Executive Service openings or entry-level positions should visit the Job Search/Apply page.

Recent college graduates or those who will be graduating soon should visit the College Recruitment page.

College or graduate students interested in Internship opportunities for summer or year-round employment, please visit the Student Relations page.
