Forthcoming Funding Opportunities

This preliminary list of solicitations will change over the coming weeks. When the solicitation is released, it will contain the name and contact information of the person managing the solicitation. To be fair and open in the competition, we do not discuss solicitations until they are published. Total funding for these solicitations will depend on the availability of funds.

   

The Impact of Safety Equipment Modalities on Reducing Correctional Officer Injuries

NIJ will seek applications for research to identify how differences in agency policies and practices across the United States regarding safety equipment affect the safety of correctional officers. At the conclusion of this project, the successful applicant will deliver a report that details the safety equipment modalities currently in use in correctional institutions across the United States, the rationale for using these modalities, and existing evidence regarding their efficacy.

Applied Research and Development in Forensic Science for Criminal Justice Purposes

NIJ will seek applications for funding to support applied research and development projects that will: (1) increase knowledge and understanding necessary to guide forensic science policy and practice or (2) result in the production of useful materials, devices, systems, or methods that have the potential for forensic application.

Basic Scientific Research to Support Forensic Science for Criminal Justice Purposes

NIJ will seek proposals for funding basic scientific research in the physical, life, and cognitive sciences that is designed to increase the knowledge underlying forensic science disciplines intended for use in the criminal justice system.

Data Resources Program 2013: Funding for Analysis of Existing Data

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) have entered into a partnership that will seek applications under this Data Resources Program (DRP) solicitation for original research using existing data available from the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) and other public sources.

NIJ Graduate Research Fellowship Program FY 2013

NIJ will seek applications for funding under the Ph.D. Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) program that provides awards for research on crime, violence, and other criminal justice-related topics to accredited academic universities that offer research-based doctoral degrees in disciplines relevant to NIJ’s mission.

W.E.B. Du Bois Fellowship for Research on Race, Gender, Culture, and Crime FY 2013

NIJ will seek applications for the W.E.B. Du Bois Fellowship for Research in Race, Gender, Culture, and Crime FY 2013. The Fellowship Program seeks to advance knowledge regarding the confluence of crime, justice, and culture in various societal contexts. The Fellowship places particular emphasis on crime, violence, and the administration of justice in diverse cultural contexts within the United States.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of State, Local, and Tribal Responses to Violence Committed Against Indian Women Living in Tribal Communities

NIJ will seek applications for funding to evaluate the effectiveness of State, tribal, and local programs designed to respond to crimes committed against Native American women living in tribal communities.
