The FTC International Fellows Program

The FTC International Fellows Program is based on a new statute that allows foreign agency employees to spend up to six months at the FTC learning how the FTC legal and economic staff conduct their work. Assignments will be made after discussions between FTC managers and foreign agencies, but they are not limited to one office or mission, such as cross-border fraud cases.  Of the initial group of Fellows, one each worked under the supervision of the Bureaus of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economics, and one worked under the Office of International Affairs. The essence of the Fellowship is the limited grant of access to confidential information subject to legal protections that the Fellow and the Fellow's employing agency agree to honor.

A 'pilot program' has now concluded, and the Commission is now accepting applications for future participation in the program.  The application process is described in the program brochures.
