The International Terrorism Victim Expense Reimbursement Program (ITVERP) is intended to reimburse victims for allowable expenses incurred as a result of acts of terrorism occurring outside the United States. The Victim Reunification Travel Program (VRT) provides funds to help left-behind parents in international child abduction cases. Support under this program is provided via an intra-agency authorization with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and an OJJDP grant to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The Antiterrorism and Emergency Assistance Program provides federal funds to support crisis response, consequence management, criminal justice support, crime victim compensation, and training and technical assistance during the aftermath of an incident of terrorism and mass violence (domestic and international).
The Office of Overseas Citizens Services, Bureau of Consular Affairs, U.S. Department of State is committed to assisting American citizens who become victims of crime while traveling, working, or residing abroad. Consular duty personnel are available for emergency assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at embassies, consulates, and consular agencies overseas and in Washington, D.C. The International Rescue Committee
