Pilot Programs: The U.S. Department of Education is testing a series of SES Pilot Programs during the 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 school years. They will fulfill two key priorities: ensuring that more eligible students receive SES and providing more accurate and comprehensive information on their effectiveness in improving student academic achievement. The U.S. Department of Education has entered into flexibility agreements with participating sites.

Outreach Project: The U.S. Department of Education undertook during the 2006-07 school year an outreach project to help school districts and states implement public school choice and SES. The project culminated in a National Summit on SES and Public School Choice on June 27-28, 2007, in Arlington, VA.
