U.S. Department of Education Officials to Visit Nearly 40 Schools to Learn from School Principals

Deb Delisle, assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education, and Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary for vocational and adult education, visited schools in the Washington, D.C., metro area today to learn from exemplary school principals as they exercise their role as instructional leaders and manage the day-to-day operation of their schools.

U.S. Department of Education Announces Grants Totaling More Than $1.2 Million to Charter Schools

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded seven Charter School Exemplary Collaboration grants totaling more than $1.2 million to support collaboration between public charter schools, traditional public schools and school districts. Education Department Announces $11 Million for 40 Additional Upward Bound Projects to Help Students Access and Succeed in Higher Education

The U.S. Department of Education announced its second set of awards for 40 Upward Bound projects, which will help close to 3,000 students acquire the knowledge and skills they need to access and succeed in college. They are designed to increase both the high school graduation and college completion rates of low-income, first-generation students.
