What to Report?

Report the following concerns to the OIG EmPowerline®
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), through its investigations, audits, and other initiatives, works to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness within TVA programs and operations and also to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse affecting TVA. You can help the OIG with its mission by reporting to EmPowerline® incidents which fall into one of the following categories.
Concern Category Description Accounting, Internal Accounting Controls, and Auditing Matters Any suspected or known deficiency, fraud, misstatement or deliberate error related to TVA accounting, controls, audits, or financial statements Destruction/Theft/Computer Crimes Acts intended to destroy or steal TVA property, or any crime involving a TVA computer Discrimination/Harassment/Reprisal Actions affecting term or condition of employment which are based on age, disability, ethnicity/national origin, gender, marital or pregnancy status, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or voicing concerns Environmental Crimes Any suspected or known crime affecting the air, water or land relating to TVA programs or operations Ethics Issues/Employee Misconduct Any significant suspected or known action by a TVA employee in violation of ethics regulations or TVA policy Falsification of Records Known of suspected deliberate falsification of any TVA record Fraud Any known or suspected deliberate deception or other illegal act by a TVA employee or third party done to secure an unfair or unlawful gain Terrorism/Sabotage/Safety Threat to TVA operations or safety of TVA employees or facilities through terrorism, sabotage, or otherwise Waste and Abuse Any known or suspected significant waste of TVA funds or abuses of authority by a TVA employee Other Any other known or suspected crime or significant misconduct which does not fall within any of the above categories -

About EmPowerline®?
EmPowerline® is the OIG-sponsored hotline system for employees, contractors and the general public to report suspected fraud, waste or abuse that affects TVA.
The new system can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will allow users to report over a secure internet connection or by calling the toll free hotline number.

EmPowerline® is administered by a third-party contractor so individuals who report concerns can do so anonymously, or they can request confidentiality. No one at TVA will learn a caller's identity without the caller's prior consent. EmPowerline® also allows users to track the outcomes of concerns they report. Individuals who report concerns will be given a protected password whether they contact EmPowerline® by phone or through the Web. They can use the password to track the resolution of their concern. Also, if they chose to remain anonymous, they can use the password to check for any follow-up questions the OIG may have.

Reward Program?
OIG Reward Program Policy
A source of information (“source”) may receive a cash reward for disclosing to the OIG information concerning criminal or unlawful activities involving TVA programs and personnel. OIG may pay cash rewards to a source of information for providing substantial information not previously known by OIG, which leads to a felony charge or a substantial monetary recovery from individuals who defrauded TVA programs. Nothing in this policy is intended to create any rights in third parties, and the decision whether or not to make a reward rests solely in the Inspector General’s discretion and is not subject to further review.
