A Great Heritage: Renaissance and Baroque Drawings from Chatsworth
Overview: 105 drawings from the collection of the Dukes of Devonshire at Chatsworth in Derbyshire, England, included studies for paintings as well as finished works. The exhibition celebrated Annemarie Pope, founder of the International Exhibitions Foundation, which sponsored earlier shows of Chatsworth drawings.
Curators of the exhibition were Michael Jaffé, former director of the Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge, England, and Andrew Robison, Andrew W. Mellon senior curator at the National Gallery of Art.
The exhibition and catalogue were made possible by support from Ford Motor Company. Additional support was provided by The Marpat Foundation, the Dimick Foundation, Evelyn Stefansson Nef, the Dorothy Jordan Chadwick Fund, and Alice Tully. This exhibition was supported by an indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities.
