Is my business eligible?

The SBIR/STTR program is intended to support innovative research which has the potential for commercialization, conducted by small businesses of up to 500 employees.

The Small business Innovation Research (SBIR) program requires that the Principal Investigator have his/her primary employment (>51%) with the small business.

The Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) program is designed to create formal collaborative relationships between applicants and research institutions in the development of a commercial product.

Application Information:

*Effective January 2011 the 2 day Error Correction Window has been ELIMINATED- see NOT-OD-10-123. Your SBIR/STTR applications must be submitted and error free by 5PM your local time on all receipt dates. Submit Early to ensure receipt by NIH, as staff CANNOT amend the NIH rules!

*Effective January 2010 new application page limits take affect. Please reivew NOT-OD-09-149

*Original new applications and competing renewal applications submitted after January, 2009 will be allowed only a single amendment to the original application.

All applications must be submitted electronically via grants.gov using SF424 R&R , the new NIH electronic application form. Progress reports use PHS 2590
