Mergers, Name Changes, and Other Corporate Activity

FCA is responsible for issuing corporate charters to all Farm Credit System institutions. Therefore, when institutions merge, change their names, and make other corporate changes, they must have these actions approved through FCA.

Note: FCA views an Agricultural Credit Association (ACA) and its Production Credit Association (PCA) and Federal Land Credit Association (FLCA) subsidiaries as a single entity for most regulatory purposes.

Two Associations Affiliated with AgFirst Farm Credit Bank Merge
On July 1, 2012, Chattanooga, ACA, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, merged into Jackson Purchase, ACA, located in Mayfield, Kentucky. Chattanooga’s PCA and FLCA subsidiaries also merged into Jackson Purchase’s subsidiaries. Jackson Purchase was the continuing association, and its name was changed to River Valley AgCredit. FCA granted final approval of the merger on June 26, after the voting stockholders of each association approved the merger.

Subsidiary of Association Affiliated with Farm Credit Bank of Texas Changes Name
On July 1, 2012, the Federal Land Bank Association of North Alabama, FLCA, changed its name to Alabama Farm Credit, FLCA. This change aligns the FLCA’s name with that of the parent association, Alabama Farm Credit, ACA, and with the ACA’s other subsidiary, Alabama Farm Credit, PCA. FCA granted approval for the name change on June 28.
