Child Support Enforcement

Kentucky Child Support Enforcement has a new website where you can apply for child support services, estimate a child support obligation, make your child support payments, report address changes, upload court orders and other legal documents, verify payment history and past due child support amounts and request updates on ongoing child support actions.

Child Support Enforcement in the Department for Income Support provides assistance to parents with minor children seeking financial support from a noncustodial parent.

Every child has a legal right to financial support from both parents.

Where to Send Child Support Payments

Payments can be made on the Kentucky Child Support Interactive Website.

Please make checks payable to the Kentucky Child Support Enforcement Program and send to the following address:

How to Apply for Child Support Enforcement Services

Child support enforcement services are automatically provided to current and former recipients of K-TAP and public medical assistance. Your K-TAP caseworker will refer your case to the appropriate child support office.

If you are not receiving K-TAP or medical assistance, you can apply for child support enforcement services on the Kentucky Child Support Interactive Website.

If you want to complete a paper application, you must complete the Non-K-TAP Application (Form CS-33) for services.

The Child Support Fact Sheet (Form CS-37) explains the child support services available to a non-KTAP applicant.

The following forms should also be completed by the applicant:

The Authorization and Acknowledgement of No Legal Representation (CS-11) informs a Non-K-TAP applicant that contracting officials (county attorneys) employed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky and not the applicant.

The Custodial Parent Affidavit (Form CS-148) is a sworn statement of the amount of support paid to the custodial parent.

If you would like to have your child support deposited directly into your checking or savings account you will need to complete the Application for Direct Deposit (Form CS-168 )

Child Support Enforcement Voice Response System (800) 443-1576

You may access your account to verify payment history and past-due amounts on the Kentucky Child Support Interactive Website.

Automated access to payment and account information. This system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How to Request a Review and Modification

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) may review and adjust a parent’s support obligation when there is an assignment of support rights (the custodial parent receives public assistance for the child) or when either parent requests a review.

CHFS may adjust a support obligation, if the review shows a material change in the current support obligation using the Child Support Guidelines, as referenced in Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 403.212. KRS 403.213(2) defines a material change as a continuing change in circumstances, which results in at least a 15 percent (15 percent) increase or decrease in the amount of support due per month. A review of the order or cash medical support may cause medical support, in the form of health insurance for the child(ren), to be added to the order. Once the review is started, adjustment of the order will be completed even if the results do not favor the party who requested the review.

For example, if an increase in support is requested and the calculations result in a decrease, the obligation will be lowered. If a decrease in support is requested and the calculations result in an increase, the obligation will be increased.

If you request a review, you must provide all of the following financial information that applies to your case:

  • Your gross monthly salary (earned income before deductions) and other sources of income.
  • The amount you or your spouse pays for health insurance for the child(ren).
  • The amount you pay for court-ordered spousal support for a former spouse.
  • The amount you pay for child support for prior-born (older) child(ren).
  • The amount you pay for child care expenses for the child(ren), provided this money is spent to allow the mother or father who has custody to work or attend school.

The Cabinet represents the best interest of the child and does not represent either party. At any time, either party may choose to use a private attorney to present arguments in his or her best interest.

How to Calculate Your Child Support Obligation

You may estimate your child support obligation on the Kentucky Child Support Interactive Website.

You may also use the following forms to calculate the amount of child support a noncustodial parent must pay. The CS-71.1 is only used when one parent has 100 percent of the total income for the family. When printing these forms, you must also print a copy of the Child Support Guidelines Table, in order to complete the worksheet.
