Audiovisual Materials

The Presidential records created or received throughout the Administration of President George W. Bush include the audiovisual materials from the White House Photo Office. The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum will eventually house audiovisual materials from donated collections and George W. Bush gubernatorial records.

The Library currently holds over 1200 cubic feet of audiovisual materials, including 46,000 audio and video tapes and 375,000 still photographs. In addition to these materials, the Library has over 80 terabytes of electronic records, including nearly 4 million photographs.

From the White House Photo Archive – This gallery consists of 40 digital photographs taken throughout the Administration of President George W. Bush and provided to the public as lithographs.

September 11, 2001 Photographs Gallery – This gallery consists of 60 digital photographs taken from September 11, 2001 through October 30, 2001. These photos focus on the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the President’s leadership during that terrible time in our nation’s history.

Tee Ball on the South Lawn – This gallery consists of 25 digital photographs taken throughout the Administration of President George W. Bush of tee ball on the South Lawn, an annual event that began in April 2001 and featured teams from across the Washington D.C. region.

Placing An Order 

Audiovisual materials at the George W. Bush Library and Museum are administered in accordance with the requirements of the Presidential Records Act and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The Library's Presidential records will become subject to FOIA on January 20, 2014. Therefore, the only audiovisual material available at this time is that in the public domain, which appears on the Archived White House Website.

The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum holds more than 375,000 still images and 46,000 audio and video tapes in its temporary facility in Lewisville, Texas.

To place an order for audiovisual materials from this website please send a detailed email to photos.gwbush@nara.gov including the filename (P number found in the caption)) or description of the image, video or audio clip, including date, location, topic, and if possible, the url for each web page that contains the requested material. Also include your name, phone number, email, mailing address, and format and delivery preferences. Orders may also be placed by phone, fax, or mail.

Please specify JPEG or TIFF for digital images; DVD, QuickTime, AVI, MPEG4, or other for video; and CD, MP3, WAV, or other for audio.

Video and audio will be burned to a DVD or CD and mailed. Digital images may be sent via email, FTP, or burned to a CD and mailed. Please allow two to three weeks for delivery.
