Payments to beneficiaries can take several months from original notification.
Once the participant's beneficiaries have been determined, the TSP will mail information to the beneficiaries about receiving benefits.
Payments are usually made 60 days after this package is sent from the TSP or after the TSP has received all of the information it needs to make the payment, whichever is sooner.
Beneficiaries should notify the TSP of any mailing address change during the payment process. They can use the form, Change of Address for a TSP Beneficiary, which is mailed to the beneficiaries from the TSP, or they can write to the TSP. Any correspondence should include the name and SSN of the beneficiary, as well as the name and SSN of the deceased participant.
