How Taylour J. Hudson got involved with U.S. Geological Survey
I first heard about the US Geological Survey through my mother who currently works for the USGS. Even when I was younger I always really enjoyed coming down to her office and spending time with her when she was at work, so I could look at the science displays located throughout the building. And when I got older and chose to study and take a career in the science arena (biology) I decided that the USGS would probably also be a great place for me to work as well, so I submitted by resume and was selected as a summer intern.

Experience
I think this entire experience is something that I will remember for a very long time since it is the first time I have had such an experience. Even though I have had small campus jobs at my higschool and even at my college, I never before have had to experience working at a full time job. I will admit waking up every morning going to work and leaving the office every evening was a bit of a transition. But I was really lucky to find and meet some amazing people here at the office of science quality and intergrity. Being surrounded by people such as scientest, and other proffessionals, is really just an amazing experience in itself, and will be something I will surely miss once this internship is over.

Taylour J. Hudson's accomplishments
Since I have only been working at the USGS for a short amount of time (almost two weeks) there are still many many things that I have yet to accomplish while assisting the National Youth Program Manager. I hope though, that once the summer is over, that I will have not only made some accomplishments but that I will have learned many life lessons that I will still be able to use even after I leave the USGS.

Taylour J. Hudson's next steps
Well, I just completed my first year of college at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL and plan on graduating from the university in the year 2015. Currently at school I am part of an organization that prepares and enrolls people in my major (biology) in research programs at other universities and medical schools in the country such as Loma Linda School of Medicine, Virginia Tech, John Hopkins, Cleavland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Etc. I hope to continue in this program and get into one of the research programs for next summer. My longterm goal is to ultimately go to medical school after graduating from college with a degree in biology,in the hopes of someday becoming a pediatrician. However during my breaks in school, and during some of my free time during the summer I do plan on coming back to the USGS to help whenever, and wherever I can.
