Saturday is National Public Lands Day, Admission is Free to National Parks

Saturday, September 29 is National Public Lands Day. This is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Find a volunteer site if you want to help improve our public lands by planting trees and native plants, collecting trash, improving trails, and more.

In honor of National Public Lands Day, all national parks offer free admission. Plan your visit to a national park today.

Find Campsites, Hiking Trails, and Other Outdoor Attractions

Visit Recreation.gov to plan your outdoor activities at federal lands across the United States.

You can search for locations that offer the activities you enjoy—including hiking, biking, boating, horseback riding, and climbing—and make reservations for camping, lodging, picnic areas, permits, and tours.

Enjoy America’s great outdoors this summer!

Share your photos of federal lands and historic sites and you could win $15,000, your photo on the 2014 Annual Federal Recreation Lands Pass, and your own Annual Federal Recreation Lands Pass. You have until the end of the year to enter so be sure to take some photos this summer.
