Privacy Policy

Admongo.gov is maintained by the Federal Trade Commission. This page describes how Admongo collects and handles information from consumers when they visit Admongo.gov.

If you visit Admongo.gov to play a game or to read or download information:
When you visit an FTC website, we automatically collect some temporary, anonymous information about your visit to help us improve navigation on our site or investigate disruption of service attacks. This information includes: the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our sites; and the Internet address of the site from which you linked directly to our sites. By voluntarily visiting our website, you are consenting to the collection and use of the information in the ways described in this notice.

We use this information only as anonymous aggregate data to determine the number of visitors to different sections of our sites, to ensure the sites are working properly, and to help us make our sites more useful. We do not use it to track or record information about individuals, which means it is not subject to the Privacy Act of 1974. Nevertheless, we use secure means to store this information.

Admongo.gov provides games intended for people, including but not limited to people under 13. No information is necessary to play apart from that stated here: When a user plays Admongo, we collect the user's Admongo screen name, password, and the answer to a security question, all of which are stored in a database. The user's password is encrypted using a hashing algorithm. Users may, at certain points in the game, enter their first name and an email address to send something the user created to someone else. That first name and email address are not stored anywhere on the site. Admongo also provides a space for parents and teachers; within that area, they can click on a link to pop up an email message in their own email client, for purposes of contacting FTC staff about questions or other matters related to the site. This email function on the Parents & Teachers pages of Admongo is intended for adult use. In the event that we receive an email from a child, it's our policy to dispose of that email address immediately; however, we may respond once to a child’s question prior to deleting that child’s email address.

We do not use persistent or session "cookies" or tracking mechanisms that collect personally identifying information on our sites.

The FTC may provide information to businesses or individuals in response to court orders, subpoenas, Freedom of Information Act requests, or other legal requirements.

Unauthorized Access
For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. By using this site, you are agreeing to such security monitoring. If such monitoring reveals evidence of possible abuse or criminal activity, the evidence may be provided to appropriate law enforcement officials. Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable by law, including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.
