The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum holds approximately 80 terabytes of electronic records — the largest electronic records collection of any Presidential Library.

This data includes over 200 million email messages created or received using the White House email system; nearly 4 million photographs created by the White House Photo Office; the files from the shared network drives used by various offices in the White House; and the data from the various records management, scheduling, and appointment systems used during the Administration of President George W. Bush. The vast majority of these electronic records are stored in the National Archives' Electronic Records Archive (ERA). Electronic records not stored in ERA are physically housed by the National Archives at either the Library and Museum or at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
Presidential records created in electronic format are subject to the Presidential Records Act. Beginning on January 20, 2014, electronic Presidential records that have not been processed can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
