PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

NACTEP provides grants to federally recognized Indian tribes, tribal organizations, Alaska Native entities and eligible BIE-funded schools to improve career and technical education programs that are consistent with the purposes of the Perkins Act and that benefit Native Americans and Alaskan Natives.


TYPES OF PROJECTS

Projects build on the efforts of states and localities to develop challenging academic and technical standards, and to assist students in meeting such standards, including preparation of students for the high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand occupations in emerging or established professions.


Additional Information

NAVTEP gives special consideration to exemplary approaches that involve, coordinate with, and encourage Tribal Economic Development Plans, as well as applications from tribally controlled community colleges.
