AIDSinfo Launches Redesigned Drug Database

The redesigned AIDSinfo drug database offers health care providers and patients streamlined access to HIV/AIDS-related drug information. Improvements to the database include changes that make information easier to find and completely revised drug summaries.

Health care providers now have direct access to FDA drug labels from DailyMed for FDA-approved antiretroviral drugs, as well as drugs used to treat opportunistic infections (OIs) of HIV/AIDS. The redesigned database offers complementary drug summaries for patients in English and Spanish. The format of the patient summaries mirrors information found in the patient counseling section of FDA drug labels.

Redesign of the AIDSinfo drug database is an ongoing effort. Future improvements to the database will include:

  • Information on investigational HIV drugs for health care providers.
  • Additional patient summaries for approved OI-related drugs and investigational HIV drugs.
  • In all patient summaries, hyperlinks to AIDSinfo glossary definitions for hard-to-understand terms.
  • An option to download all drug information in printer-friendly PDF format.

AIDSinfo welcomes your feedback on improvements to the drug database. Please send your comments and suggestions to ContactUs@aidsinfo.nih.gov.

United States Conference on AIDS Begins on Sunday

The United States Conference on AIDS (USCA) takes place Sunday, September 30 through Wednesday, October 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stop by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) booth (#516) to pick up an AIDSinfo brochure describing our resources or our Glossary of HIV/AIDS-Related Terms in English or Spanish.

While you’re at the booth, ask about the 15-minute trainings on HIV/AIDS resources available from NLM. NLM staff manning the booth will offer the mini trainings throughout the conference.
