Help Spread the Word!

You can’t see glaucoma unless you look for it. Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness and visual impairment for Americans, affecting as many as 2.2 million people nationwide. Most studies show that at least half of all people with glaucoma do not know that they have it. Glaucoma has no warning signs, and if left untreated, it can cause permanent vision loss. That’s why early detection and treatment are so important. People at higher risk for the disease (African Americans over age 40; everyone over age 60, especially Mexican Americans, and people with a family history of the glaucoma) should see their eye care professional and get a dilated eye exam every one to two years.
