There are two types of artwork appearing on the packaging for the 2012 American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coins. One depicts the United States Mint’s standard artwork prior to its new branding effort launched in 2010. The other depicts the updated logo for the United States Mint introduced in 2010. In order to reduce waste, we made a determination to consume all remaining packaging that had the prior graphical elements before moving to the current logo. We are not able to honor requests for a particular logo, as fulfillment will be random. For this same reason, returns for graphical elements will not be accepted.
The artisans of the United States Mint have captured the grace and elegance of Sculptor-Engraver Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design.
The obverse design features an ever-hopeful Liberty striding confidently toward the sunrise, draped in the strength of the Stars and Stripes and carrying branches of laurel and oak in her arms to symbolize both civil and military glory.
The reverse design, by United States Mint Sculptor/Engraver John Mercanti, features a striking heraldic eagle with shield, and olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left.
