United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk traveled to Ottawa from July 21 – 22 to meet with Canadian Minister of International Trade Peter Van Loan on bilateral trade between the U.S. and Canada. Following his meetings in Ottawa, Ambassador Kirk traveled to Toronto on July 23, where he met with business owners to emphasize the significance of the U.S.-Canada trade relationship.

This visit marked Ambassador Kirk’s first trip to Canada as the U.S. Trade Representative. Canada is America’s largest import-export market, with $430 billion in total goods traded during 2009. American exports to Canada are estimated to support well over a million jobs here at home in the United States.
