Biosketch:

Dr. Maria Davila-Bloom earned a Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from Columbia University where she worked on the effect of retinoids on post-natal development and on the structure of human retinol binding protein (RBP).  After postdoctoral training at the Department of Physiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, she joined the FDA as a Reviewer Scientist. At the FDA, Dr. Davila-Bloom evaluated the safety and efficacy of pediatric nutrition products and medical foods, including products for inherited metabolic disorders such as PKU and organic acidurias. She also conducted research on the expression of transcription factors during development on both wild-type and PKU mice. Her training and expertise are in the areas of pediatric nutrition, inherited metabolic disorders, and mammalian development.  Dr. Davila-Bloom joined the Review Branch as an SRA in September, 2001.
