Dr. Michael Edwards joined the Review Branch as a Scientific Review Administrator in 2002.  He had previous NIDDK review experience from 1991 to 1996 when he moved into the intramural Office of Technology Development where, until 2002, he served as the Technology Development Coordinator.  He obtained the Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1984 working on the structure determination of natural products and novel photochemical reactions.  Dr. Edwards began his career at NIH working in the Laboratory of Bio-Organic Chemistry under the direction of Dr. John Daly focusing on the synthesis and structure of natural products.  He has served on a number of NIH committees and plans to continue his duties as an SRA as well as being the NIDDK’s Referral Liaison.
