Overview

The Genomics Core Laboratory provides investigators of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) with innovative, genome-scale technologies in gene expression and DNA sequencing. The Core was created in January 2003 within the Office of Directors (ODIR) of the National Institutes of Health.

Services

The Genomics Core Laboratory currently offers microarray screening using the Affymetrix GeneChip platform, and massively parallel DNA sequencing using the Illumina Genome Analyzer. The user provides samples to the Core for processing (including quantification and quality control) and receives datasets with basic statistical and bioinformatic analysis. Front-end support includes assistance with experimental design and advice on sample preparation. The user has access to several data analysis software packages via floating licenses to NIDDK. Additional bioinformatic support is available from the Core staff on a collaborative basis. The Core also provides access to real-time PCR for target validation.

Contact Information

Users are encoraged to contact any member of the Core staff to discuss the application of Core services to their research programs. The laboratory is located in Building 8, Room 1A11.
