National Institute of General Medical Sciences

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), supports basic biomedical research that is not targeted to specific diseases. In August 2007, NIGMS and NIAID launched three research centers to deepen the biological understanding of HIV.
