Voluntary Surrenders

When you are ordered by the Court to voluntarily surrender, you will be notified by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) of your surrender date and provided with the name of the institution where you are to surrender, OR you will be directed to surrender to the USMS.

If you are directed to surrender to an institution and have questions, please contact that specific institution. You can access an institution's e-mail address by using the Facility Locator. Enter the name of the institution or, if you don't know it, select the correct choice from the drop-down menu(s). Once you have accessed the institution's page, click the "Contact Information" link and scroll down to the e-mail address.

Information regarding the designation process is available in Program Statement 5100.08, Inmate Security Designation and Custody Classification.

The list of what a self-surrender is authorized to bring with him/her when voluntarily surrendering can be found in Section 12 (pages 17-18) of Program Statement 5580.08, Personal Property, Inmate.
