National Biomonitoring Program

For at least three decades, scientists at CDC's Environmental Health Laboratory have been determining which environmental chemicals people have been exposed to and how much of those chemicals actually gets into their bodies. This technique is known as biomonitoring. Biomonitoring measurements are the most health-relevant assessments of exposure because they measure the amount of the chemical that actually gets into people, not the amount that may get into people.
