The Indian Health Service Listserv is an email system that allows all IHS audiences (patients, tribes, employees, contractors, providers, etc) the opportunity to effectively communicate and collaborate on Indian Health and IHS related topics. There are over a hundred lists that are available to subscribe to and over 10,000 subscribers across all the IHS listserv lists. With a community that large you are bound to find a topic that you are interested in, but if not you can go to the Contact Us page and express your want for a listserv list on the topic you could not find.
Each listserv list is administered by an IHS Federal employee and some lists require that employee to allow users to subscribe to their lists due to some of the content not being appropriate for everyone to be part of. If you, for whatever reason, are not granted access to the listserv list you want to join you can always email the list contact in the Subscribe section and request they allow you access.

While subscribed to a list, you will want to interact by sending emails and files to the other members. To do this you will send an email to the list name @listserv.ihs.gov. For example if you are subscribed to the list EHR you will send an email to EHR@listserv.ihs.gov. Upon doing so you will be notified that your email requires approval to post to the list, this is a security feature that we use to make sure spam emails do not get through to our lists.

If you have questions or comments please feel free to use the Contact Us email form and we will respond as soon as possible.
